Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The mosque, which as you can see is still a "work in progress" is named after Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan the founder and the first President of the United Arab Emirates, who is buried there. The mosque was officially opened in September 2007. Located in a large area between two bridges, Mussafah bridge and Maqta bridge, it is considered the second largest mosque in the world, after Masjid al-Haram in the holy city of Mecca. It is also home to the world's largest handmade carpet designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi.
