Carolynn-in-Dubai > Looking towards Satwa, the empty area in the middle of the photo used to be houses. The house were demolished to make way for the proposed Jumeirah Garden City project which is "on hold". Its a typically hazy day in Dubai, the haze is a mixture of airborne construction site dust and sand.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Overlooking where the prison used to be towards Al Wasl Road and Jumeirah. In the middle of the photo is the marketing suite for the postponed Meraas project, Jumeirah Garden City. "The World" on the horizon.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > The Meraas marketing suite on the right (its unoccupied.....)
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Looking North towards Diyafah Street. The 'castley' building in middle of the photo is the Tabreed district cooling plant.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > This used to be beautiful Satwa Park. It had only been there about a year when the trees, beautiful flowers and lawns where families had picnics in the evening were all ripped up and replaced by a hole in the ground. That's progress for you.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Wellington School on the lower right.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Looking north over Satwa. The building in the murk in the distance almost in the middle of the photo is Rydges Hotel in Satwa. The road on the lower right runs parallel to SZR down the back of the Shangri-La, Fairmont, Park Place etc.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Overlooking the prison site and Al Wasl. The French Bakery is in the white building in the foreground next to the car wash and petrol station.
Carolynn-in-Dubai > Buildings 4, 5 and 6 in Emaar Square.
